what a whirlwind of a year! it’s been a joy to see our lab grow and change over time. some highlights since spring of this year:

  • May 2023: We completed our first series of CompNeuroEtho meetings with the Ahmed lab. We learned about new tools, centralized resources, and began troubleshooting behavioral/computational projects together.
  • May 2023: Stephanie & Angelyiah presented their poster, “Quantifying Social Behaviors of the cuttlefish Sepia bandensis” at the Allen Institute. This work was done in collaboration the amazing Dr. Julie Rhee at the Rockefeller Institute.
  • June-August 2023: We said goodbye to Angelyiah, who is moving into public health, and graduated our first undergraduate researchers, Danny & Michael. Best of luck in all your future endeavors!
  • June 2023: I was interviewed by Ariel Li of the Kim Lab for the PsyVersity Blog
  • July 2023: My perspectives article was published online
  • September 2023: We welcomed our first PhD students, Stephanie and Amanda! Happy 17th grade to all the new students in the Biology PhD program!
  • October 2023: Our IACUC protocol was finally approved and our seawater system is up and running
  • October 2023: Sal submitted their first first-author paper! Congrats!
  • November 2023: I submitted the final manuscript from my PhD days in the Ragsdale Lab.
