Biology PhD Student
Hello everyone, my name is Amanda (she/her)! I am coming to Seattle from Canada, where I studied Genome Biology, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, and Contemporary Asian Studies as a Lester B. Pearson International Scholar at the University of Toronto for my undergrad. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to conduct research in various fields, including genetics/genomics at the University of Toronto, ecology at the Koffler Scientific Reserve, and paleobotany at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. I conducted my Honours Thesis in the Chang Lab on the molecular evolution and genomics of the visual gene rhodopsin in Elasmobranchs and Actinopterygii. Though I am interested in all aspects of biology, I am extremely excited to join the Wang Lab to study aging through the lens of genetics/genomics, behavior, and neurobiology. Outside of the lab, I love running around hiking and climbing and playing sports, and I enjoy reading and discussing new novels over coffee.
