Undergraduate Researchers
We welcome new undergraduate researchers into the lab year round, depending on the needs of our ongoing projects. No previous research experience is required. Undergraduate researchers enroll in 3 or more credits of BIOL/PSYCH/NEUSCI 499 and participate in weekly lab meetings.
If you are interested, please complete this form (accessible by UW email). We’ll contact you directly if and when we have opportunities that align with your interests.
2025: Do you have a strong background in computer science, machine learning, or programming? We have some challenging and exciting projects for you–please get in touch!
Graduate Students
The current graduate admissions cycle has ended. Please check back to see if we are recruiting students in future cycles. In general, prospective graduate students interested in our lab may apply to the Psychology Neural Systems and Behavior PhD Program or the Biology PhD Program. Please see the links for application instructions and program details. As a policy, we do not meet with candidates before formal application review. There is no need to email us before applying.
Admitted graduate students who are interested in rotating in the lab should email Yan with research interests and CV.
Postdoctoral Researchers
Postdoctoral candidates should email Yan with research interests and CV.
Please note that we are unable to accept high school students, master’s students, or volunteers into the lab.
